IMEX Frankfurt reveals a continuing trend of increasing interest in Kyoto as a destination for conventions and incentives.

From April 19 -21, Kyoto CVB exhibited as part of the Japan booth at IMEX in Frankfurt.

DSC_2546 Kyoto enjoyed a packed schedule of meetings with both new buyers and also touched base with existing projects in process.  This year, there was continued interest in Kyoto as world class destination for mid to large sized meetings with a large number of inquiries and RFP’s.  Inquiries this time have ranged from small, high budget incentive groups to large congresses of 8,000 PAX or more.

Over the last year or so, recent trade shows have shown a strong trend that more and more high-end luxury incentive groups are setting their sights on Kyoto a premier destination in Asia and the ultimate place to have a truly authentic Japanese experience.

This year, a large number of meeting planners reported that their customers are specifically asking to go to Japan and asking to go to Kyoto.  These customers are asking for something exotic and new, and meeting planners recognize that Kyoto’s history and cultural heritage makes it the premier place for incentives

When planners meet with us, sometimes they feel unfamiliar and nervous with Asia and/or Japan as a destination but they tell us their minds are put at ease from the support they receive, and blow away by the amount of special cultural content and experiences that Kyoto can provide for meetings and incentives.  Kyoto’s exotic and authentic cultural appeal, experience as a meetings destination, and safety and ease of accessibility is what is helping fuel buyer confidence and interest

Kyoto Convention and Visitors Bureau is a non-profit organization (public interest organization).  We offer free consulting and various forms of support dedicated to helping you create a wonderful experience for your groups.  Please don’t hesitate to contact us – we are more than happy to hear from you!
