NEWSletter Vol.2 Kyoto National Museum Offers Events a Stunning View of Kyoto’s History

PrintWith its 120-year-old French Renaissance style Meiji Kotokan, its sleek, contemporary new Heisei Chishinkan wing designed by world-renowned architect Yoshio Taniguchi — famed for his design of New York’s MoMA — and its extensive gardens housing a fully functioning teahouse, the Kyoto National Museum offers a variety of spaces ideal for corporate events, parties, tea gatherings, and other special occasions.

 

After the museum closes, parties and other functions can be held in the grand lobby of the Heisei Chishinkan. The approx. 600 square meter lobby area can comfortably hold standing receptions of about 200 – 300 persons.

 

Events will feel even more special to guests when they gaze out at the over the old red brick Meiji Kotokan and main gate (both important cultural properties) and the spacious gardens. It is also possible to arrange a private viewing of the museum’s exhibits and showcase the museum’s ancient archaeological artifacts and artistic treasures the museum exhibits has to offer. Kyoto’s thousand-year-long legacy as the ancient capital includes sculpture, written material, textiles, metal work, and lacquerware. The large Buddhist statuary that is on display is especially breathtaking and never fails to impress guests.

 

It is also possible to hold parties in the 9,000 square meter gardens. At the beginning of October, Kyoto Prefecture, Kyoto City, the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and the Kyoto Convention and Visitors Bureau jointly held a special reception there with approximately 500 participants from all over the world.

 

In addition the Heisai Chishinkan has a 200 seat lecture hall in its basement that features state of the art audio-visual technology. It is wonderful for holding symposia and offers the great option of holding a reception in the grand hall afterwards.

 

The Kyoto National Museum offers a wide array of options to host meetings and events.
